Museum receives honorary ΕΒΓΕ award for Cultural Contribution

Τhe Museum of Typography’s contribution to the evolution and preservation of the graphic arts was celebrated during the awards ceremony of the Greek Graphic Design and Illustration Awards (ΕΒΓΕ), organized annually by the magazine +Design, under the auspices of the Greek Graphic Designers Association. The event took place on Monday, 3 April 2017 at the Onassis Foundation Shelter in Athens.

The event brought together more than 500 of the most talented representatives of Greek graphic design, digital media design and illustration in the auditorium of the Onassis Foundation Shelter. Three panels of judges selected the winners from 1,300 candidates in 35 categories. ΕΒΓΕ awards were given for each category, in addition to the Grand ΕΒΓΕ and the Golden ΕΒΓΕ awards.

This year the honorary ΕΒΓΕ award for Cultural Contribution, which is given by the Greek Graphic Designers Association to an individual or an organisation for it’s overall contribution to the evolution and preservation of the graphic arts, was awarded by unanimous decision of the Board to the Museum of Typography. The award was received by Elia Koumi, the Museum’s director.

The Museum, which is located in Chania (Crete), will be hosting the Association of European Museum’s forthcoming annual conference from the 11-14 May 2017.
