Grand stuff at the National Print Museum

A Design week 2022 event to coincide with the National Print Museum’s new exhibition

Wednesday 16 November at 15.00, the National Print Museum is organising an event to coincide with the launch of its new  exhibition Grand stuff: label art from Ireland . The exhibition is the first attempt to survey label art produced in Ireland. It covers the century from the 1890s to the early 1990s and includes examples of labels produced for Irish products and services.

After a viewing of the exhibition, the curator, Niall McCormack, will chair a panel discussion exploring the significance of the printed label and the rich set of meanings that they carry. The discussion will consider the broad mix of technological, commercial, social and artistic forces that influence their production, highlight their importance as historical documents and examine the hold that they can have over our memories and emotions.

The event is part of Design Week 2022.
