New Spring date for the Aepm annual conference

As of 2017, the Aepm annual conference will be held in the Spring rather than in the Autumn, as was the case up until now. The change will allow the annual general meeting of the Association – which is held back-to-back with the annual conference – to close the previous year’s accounts and decide forthcoming activities at the beginning of the current year, in line with normal practice for associations. (As a reminder, the Aepm was officially registered in Brussels as a not-for-profit association in 2014, after ten years existence as an informal working group. The new timetable was formally adopted by the annual meeting at the Tipoteca italiana (Cornuda, Italy) in 2015, to be effective as of 2017.)

So, exceptionally, the 2016 and 2017 conferences will be separated by only six months.

Save the date!

The next annual conference will be hosted by the Museum of typography at Chania, on the beautiful Greek island of Crete from the 11 – 13 May 2017.

The theme of the conference will be Making history: collections, collectors and the cultural role of printing museums.

The full announcement of the conference is to be found at https://www.aepm.eu/conferences/.

And practical information about travel and accommodation can be found at https://www.aepm.eu/conferences/travel-and-accommodation/. Crete may seem far away, but the town of Chania is well served by several low cost airlines and boasts a very wide selection of accommodation for every budget (not to mention special rates which the Museum of typography has negociated with several centrally located hotels.

The full programme and list of speakers will be posted early in 2017.
