The Musée de l’imprimerie in Lyon is changing…

The museum’s future

The Musée de l’imprimerie et de la communication graphique closed its doors to the public on 1 June 2025, for 18 months of building work to improve its accessibility. Although essential, this break is not the end: on the contrary, it marks the beginning of a major transformation.

The collections are alive and well

While the museum is closed, its collections are not asleep: they are travelling, being exhibited elsewhere, restored, documented and shared. The museum continues to work with a wide range of partners in Lyon and beyond to promote its wealth of typographic and graphic resources. And if you’re curious, some of our treasures will be available to view online, in the form of publications and behind-the-scenes features that you can discover on our website and social networks.

The museum delocalised: follow the programme…

The museum isn’t completely closed: exhibitions, workshops, meetings, events… a programme of events will be on offer in the City throughout the duration of the building works, in partnership with Lyon’s cultural venues. From posters to manga, from typography to contemporary design, from reading to publishing, graphic cultures will continue to take pride of place. To make sure you don’t miss a thing, follow us here and on our social networks: the museum continues to make images speak, even outside its walls!

Rendez-vous in 2027…

In 2027, the museum will reopen under a new name, with a new identity, improved access for visitors to a more interactive permanent exhibition, resolutely connected to contemporary graphic issues.

A museum transformed, but still driven by the same passion for words, images, shapes and signs.

Until then, let’s keep in touch. The best is yet to come!
