The Italian Association of Printing and Paper Museums (AIMSC) will be present with its own stand (Hall 11 A31) at the upcoming edition of Print4All, the trade show dedicated to technologies for printing and visual communication, scheduled from May 27th to 30th at Fiera Milano.
During the event, visitors will have the unique opportunity to witness live demonstrations of fine printing techniques thanks to the participation of several AIMSC members. A letterpress, a lithographic press, and other equipment representing a noble artisan tradition that has marked the history of visual communication will be operational. Throughout the four days, a limited-edition poster will be printed as a practical demonstration for the benefit of the numerous student guests from institutions supporting AIMSC.
Further enriching the experience, master papermakers will be present to illustrate the fascinating stages of handmade paper production, an ancient art that continues to thrive thanks to the passion and dedication of the museums associated with AIMSC.
What you can see and do at the AIMSC stand (Hall 11 A31):
- A star-wheel lithographic press, where AIMSC member Samuele Arcangioli, a professor at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts, will give live demonstrations of stone engraving and printing.
- A lever-operated typographic press from the mid-1800s, with which 40 numbered copies (10 per day) of a celebratory poster for the premiere of Giuseppe Verdi’s opera Aida at the Teatro alla Scala in 1872 will be printed. The poster will be printed in two colors by members Antonio Scaccabarozzi, Luigi Lanfossi, and Giovanni Daprà, and we will be pleased to involve visitors to the stand in the printing operations.
- A small lever-operated typographic press called ‘Boston’, with which, under the guidance of member Luigi Lanfossi, it will be possible to print a personalised bookmark with your name in movable type.
- An intaglio rolling press with which member Giovanni Daprà will give demonstrations of copperplate engraving.
- Demonstration of handmade paper production by the master papermakers of the Paper Museum of Toscolano Maderno (the demonstration will take place only on May 30th).
We look forward to seeing you in large numbers at the AIMSC stand at Print4All 2025 for an unforgettable experience of history, art, and tradition!
