70th International Children’s Book Exhibition at the Klingspor Museum

The children’s book exhibition at the Klingspor Museum is turning 70, and you’re cordially invited to the party!

A birthday is a reason to celebrate in many parts of the world, but also an opportunity to reflect on the past and the future. For three months, the children’s book exhibition will be celebrating its 70th birthday and looking back on seven decades of picture books. What’s been happening in the picture book market, which editions are now cult classics, and what wouldn’t be as popular on shelves today? And what does the future hold for children’s books? As every year, the children’s book exhibition will also showcase numerous new releases from many countries, each with a particularly beautiful design or narrative.

So come along, celebrate the 70th children’s book exhibition with us, cut confetti and stamp wrapping paper, discover new and old picture books, make garlands, and join us in celebrating!

Plus… original watercolours and paintings by Ivan Gantschev

In addition to the retrospective from the museum’s extensive holdings, more than 40 original watercolors and acrylic paintings by artist Ivan Gantschev will be on display. The Bulgarian-born artist was a formative figure in the picture book scene of the 1970s and 1980s. His tranquil, poetic books, which often featured motifs from his homeland, have won numerous awards. The exhibition is accompanied by a varied programme of talks and workshops.
